BLACK URFA CHILI spice
While very common in Middle Eastern cooking, this spice is really starting to heat up in the States. Native to Urfa, Turkey, this sun-dried chili pepper has just the slightest kick of lip-tingling heat but tastes more smoky and fruity than spicy. On a scale of tame to sweating bullets, it's about a jalapeno-level heat. And with notes of tobacco, raisin, and chocolate, it's much more complex - and totally delicious. If you're looking for the warmth of a chili, minus the eye-watering spiciness of, say, a habenero, black Urfa is your new best friend.
