Oregano - Greek

Oregano is native to the Mediterranean region and popularly associated with Italian and Greek cuisine. Oregano came into prominence in the U.S. after World War II when servicemen returning from Europe told of the wonderful pizzas experienced in Italy. Oregano goes particularly well with tomato sauces and egg and cheese dishes.



Spice Fun Fact: Revered as a symbol of joy and happiness in both Ancient Greece and Rome, brides and grooms would crown themselves with laurels of oregano.
