Grown extensively worldwide, onion is used in almost every cuisine. The onion bulb is used raw in many applications, but the dried powder, granulated, and chopped forms are much more easily stored and used in most kitchens. Powdered onion is very fine, so it is best for dips, gravies, or other applications where you need a smooth consistency.
