Homemade Pumpkin Bread Rolls
Pumpkin bread rolls with Cinnamon Butter are slightly sweet and deliciously festive with their easy and adorable pumpkin shapes. Add these lightly golden rolls to your bread basket or turn them into sandwiches for an elevated afternoon bite!
From The Spice & Tea Exchange
1 Tbsp Oregano - Greek
½ tsp Cinnamon - Korintje Ground
1-2 Tbsp Honey - Granulated
From the Grocer
3 Tbsp warm water
1 Tbsp fast action dry yeast
4 cups of all-purpose flour
1 tsp salt
1 ½ cups pumpkin puree
1 ½ Tbsp olive oil
1 stick unsalted butter, softened
½ cup powdered sugar
ADD warm water to the yeast and let it sit for 5 minutes.
MIX the flour, salt, and Oregano - Greek in a large bowl and stir to combine.
MAKE a well in the center and add the yeast, pumpkin puree, and 1 Tbsp. of olive oil.
START incorporating the flour, mixing until a rough dough is formed.
TURN out onto a lightly floured work surface and knead the dough for 10 minutes.
SHAPE the dough into a large ball (it should be smooth and elastic). Cut the dough in half and then cut each half into four and shape into balls.
TAKE a long piece of kitchen string and place it over the center of a ball of dough. Turn it over and cross the string in the opposite direction to make a cross then flip back over. Do this another two times, crossing over each quarter section, creating 8-sections in total. Tie loosely and cut the strands.
PLACE the individual rolls on a lined baking tray spaced widely apart and brush each one lightly with olive oil. Cover with parchment paper and leave them to rise for 1 hour.
PREHEAT the oven to 400°F.
BAKE the rolls for 15 minutes, remove from the oven and cut the string and discard. Let them cool completely before cutting in half.
FILL them with your favorite sandwich fillings or spread cinnamon honey butter on top!
For the Butter:
IN a bowl of an electric mixer, beat the butter for 30 seconds, or until pale in color.
ADD the powdered sugar, Cinnamon - Korintje Ground, and Honey – Granulated and beat until well combined, light, and fluffy (about 1 to 2 minutes).
SERVE immediately or store, covered, in the fridge for up to 1 week.
