These concentrated bites of flavor have it all - they’re sweet, salty, spicy, and a touch savory. Enjoy on salads, oatmeal, ice cream, or by the handful. They are also ideal for gift-giving. Equally delicious when using almonds or walnuts – or a combination!
Ingredients
- ½ cup light brown sugar
-
½ cup Bourbon Black
Walnut Sugar
-
4 tsp Bacon Smoked Sea
Salt
-
2 tsp Chinese 5-Spice
Seasoning
- 1 ea egg white
-
1 Tbsp bourbon or Pure
Vanilla Extract
- ½ lb unsalted pecan halves (about 4 cups)
Directions
- Preheat oven to 300ºF. Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper; set aside.
- In a small mixing bowl, combine sugars, sea salt, and seasoning; set aside.
- In a medium mixing bowl, whisk egg white and bourbon until frothy. Gently fold in the pecans until well-coated. Add the sugar mixture and toss to coat evenly.
- Spread the pecans in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet. Bake for 30 to 40 minutes, stirring every 15 minutes.
- Remove from oven and let cool on the baking sheet. Once cool, break up any pieces that may have stuck together while baking. Freeze any leftovers for up to one month.
