½ cup TSTE® Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil, divided
1 tsp TSTE® Himalayan Fine Mineral Salt
2 TBS TSTE® Garlic - Minced
2 tsp TSTE® Italian Herb Spice Blend
¼ tsp TSTE® Black Pepper - Medium Ground
2 TBS TSTE® Sweet Onion Sugar (optional)
From the Grocer
1 cup warm water
2 ¼ tsp active dry yeast (1 envelope)
¼ tsp honey
2 ½ cups flour, divided
1 small onion, thinly sliced
MIX warm water, yeast, and honey in a large bowl. Let sit for 5 mins or until mixture begins to foam. Add 2 TBS TSTE® Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil and 1 cup of the flour. Stir until flour is moistened then allow to sit for another 5 mins.
STIR in the rest of the flour and TSTE® Himalayan Fine Mineral Salt. Knead the dough on a floured board until smooth.
OIL a large bowl and place the dough inside. Cover gently with a warm damp towel and allow to rise for an hour.
IN a medium frying pan, sauté onions over medium heat for 10 mins, then add the remaining TSTE® Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil, TSTE® Garlic - Minced, TSTE® Italian Herb Spice Blend, and TSTE® Black Pepper - Medium Ground. Turn heat down to low, and continue to cook for 5 mins, stirring often.
PREHEAT oven to 450ºF. Grease a 9x13 baking sheet and press the dough firmly down into the pan. Spread the spice mixture over top. Allow to rise for 20 mins then bake 15-20 mins or until browned.
AFTER removing from the oven, sprinkle focaccia bread with TSTE® Sweet Onion Sugar if extra onion flavor is desired.
*For a faster version, substitute a refrigerated pizza dough for homemade dough and skip to the step beginning with "IN a medium frying pan…"
