Licorice Powder

Licorice is native to south-eastern Europe and the Middle East, where it grows wild. Other names include; Black Sugar, Licorice Root, Liquorice, Sweetroot, and Sweetwood. Licorice is highly aromatic. It is sweet tasting, similar to anise, with a slightly bitter, slightly salty aftertaste. Licorice is known mostly as a confectionary flavoring, especially with Licorice Allsorts or Pontefract cakes.
