Lemon Verbena

Lemon Verbena originated in South America, where it grows 15 feet tall, but is now also cultivated in France, North Africa and the western US. True to its name, it smells and tastes of lemon, but with a more herbal overtone. Popularly used as a tea, the leaves can also be added to steamed fish, chopped or blended into sauces or layered into savory casseroles. It can also substitute for lemon zest in recipes.
